What Items Do you NeedA list of all items we could use donated can be found on our Donations page! Some descriptions of needs are also listed below. 1) For those living outside, basic needs include pair of socks, underwear, water, bug spray, snacks, basic hygiene items, disposable razor, comb, blankets, sleeping bags, tent/ tarps. Then, the biggest thing we help with is an adult sized bike. With a bike, they can pedal to a job. IF YOU HAVE ADULT CLOTHING, JEANS, HOODIES, SWEATSHIRTS, T-SHIRTS, BOOTS, TENNIS SHOES, etc, please see the doc pinned at the top of our group page. No need for dress clothes or kids clothing. 2) Once they have a source of income, places like Heartland Family Services, Community Alliance or the VA help them get into an apt. We then furnish it with a couch/loveseat, small kitchen table, kitchenware (plates, pots and pans, silverware, glasses, utensils), bed, linen, dresser, towels, microwave. We cannot take older style tube TV’s however, as they do not get a signal without CATV, which they cannot afford. Exception: if you have a digital antenna/converter box as well. We do collect DVD’s for people who can watch shows, but not afford monthly CATV. We also accept wall decorations, keeping in mind that the majority are men, so make sure it is something that would be welcome by them 🙂. Most of these places are small, therefore we cannot take things like a desk, large entertainment centers, king size beds, large appliances. PLEASE, we are not a place to simply unload large items that need hauled away. We cannot take furniture that has heavy pet hair on it, nor beds with bad stains and sagging conditions. We work hard to make sure they are treated with respect and dignity and not a place where we throw our junk. Thanks for understanding. 3) No need for these items: kids stuff, washer/dryer, refrig, stove, sofa sleeper couches. If the bed/furniture is in so-so shape, we are not a good place for it. We have no means to repair these items, and we cannot deliver them in fair shape. Couches or beds that are torn or stained, have pet hair or smoke, are not something we can use. I hope you understand.
